Purchase UPS battery with moderate operation scale for big data center

In most big data centers, UPS can fill the battery in 20 minutes. This is called long-term load battery charging. Compared with low load battery charging, long-term load battery charging has thinner and larger number of solar panels. However, the service life of long-term load battery is usually shorter.

There will continue to be many other factors that must be taken into account when purchasing UPS batteries, such as life expectancy, operating voltage standards, front-end development operations, additional costs, and other considerations. In addition, executives of big data centers should also fully consider other potential problems, such as the sealing of rechargeable batteries and internal connection.

Install, operate and maintain batteries properly

Incorrect installation and maintenance will reduce the battery life. In other words, a good maintenance strategy is to show the battery a good natural ventilation standard. The temperature should be controlled at 77 degrees Fahrenheit as much as possible. In addition, it should be ensured that the gas temperature of the batteries in all lithium batteries will be 3 degrees Fahrenheit. Excessive charge and discharge of the battery will cause the problem of repeated battery charging, and excessive charging and discharging will also reduce the service life of the battery.

Test UPS battery capacity

The internal resistance of the battery will gradually expand due to the corrosion and other factors. When the increase rate reaches 30%, it is time to replace the battery. According to the volume test, this problem is very easy to detect. As most manufacturers say, when the capacity of a battery is reduced to 80% of its initial capacity, it should be replaced. When testing the characteristics and volume of the battery, the customer shall comply with the IEEE specification, * * ieee1180 or ieee450.

Battery charging on time

UPS is in floating charge for a long time without the whole process of charging and discharging, which is equivalent to "storage standby". If this kind of situation continues for too long, it will lead to the storage battery for too long and invalid damage. This is manifested in the expansion of the internal resistance of the battery, and the internal resistance reaches several ohms when it is more serious. At indoor temperature, the storage capacity of the battery after one month storage is about 97% of its rated current. If it is not needed for 6 months, its applied capacity will become 80% of the short-circuit capacity. If the volume of storage can be further reduced, the temperature can be further reduced. Therefore, it is suggested that the customer * * should input the final breaking voltage intentionally every month, so that the kinetic energy of UPS can be shown by the battery to the inverter power supply. However, this kind of practical operation is not suitable for too long time. It can be charged and discharged for 10 minutes at 30% of the rated load output.

Reduce deep charge and discharge

The service life of the battery is closely related to the depth of its charge and discharge. The lighter the load required by UPS, the greater the short-circuit capacity ratio between the storage capacity of the battery and the final interruption of the voltage supply system. When UPS switches on and off automatically due to low battery voltage, the battery will be charged and discharged deeply. The method to reduce the deep charge and discharge of battery in specific application is: when the voltage power supply system is finally cut off and the battery supplies power to the inverter power supply system, when the UPS power supply alarm indicates that the battery is in the deep charging and discharging situation, emergency treatment should be carried out immediately and the ups should be turned off. In general, the UPS has to work automatically because the battery voltage is not too low.

Battery charging when using Valley

For UPS customers who are in low voltage power supply system for a long time or power failure frequently, in order to avoid battery damage too early due to long-term insufficient battery charging, it is necessary to flexibly use the power consumption valley time (such as in the middle of the night) to charge the battery, so as to ensure that the battery has sufficient battery charging time after each charge and discharge. Generally, 90% of the short-circuit capacity of the recharged battery must be at least 10-12h after the battery is deeply charged and discharged. Try to keep the battery fully charged.

Pay attention to the selection of charging head

Maintenance free sealed lead-acid batteries for UPS can not be charged by thyristor type fast charger. This is because this kind of charging head will cause the battery to be in the extreme battery charging condition of both instantaneous over-current battery charging and instantaneous overvoltage battery charging. This kind of situation will greatly reduce the storage capacity of the battery, and in serious cases, the battery will be damaged.
